April-May 2024 Newsletter

We do not celebrate holidays and birthdays during the school day.

Prearranged Absences

When a student misses even one day there is a lot each teacher must do to get them caught up.  Even when we send home their work, it does not replace all the magic that happens during class. Attendance plays a vital part in the success of each student!

Our policy and charter states, “To establish a healthy learning environment regular attendance is essential for maximum learning.  Parents will be encouraged to have students attend 96% of the time.” “Regular and consistent attendance results in increased learning.  Attendance is more than a legal obligation, it is a privilege.” Let me do the math for you,  96% attendance means each child has 6 days they can miss in a school year.  A word from the wise – use them well and don’t spend them all at once!

As you know, we accomplish a lot in a day so we love having the children in class as much as possible.  It’s just better that way! However, we understand when families need to get away together or there are appointments out of town.  In the event that you know your child will miss school, please print off the Prearranged Absence Form.

Please fill out the top portion and send it to school with your child before the date(s) of absence. A week notice is preferable. The teachers will then fill it out and send it back to you with homework attached. After completing the homework, please send the homework and the signed form back to school.
